Frequently Asked Questions

What is ThinkPlayful™?

ThinkPlayful™ is a cloud-based app for parents and kids together. Unlike many apps that involve a lot of screen time for kids, ThinkPlayful™ is designed to guide off-screen activities to support the foundations of learning - and especially while parents and kids have fun together. Our research and development is funded by the National Science Foundation.

How can I purchase access to ThinkPlayful™?

ThinkPlayful™ is not yet released to the general public for purchase. We are first conducting beta tests and providing free early access to families and professionals in roles that work with families. Sign up for early access here: www.thinkplayful.com/early-access

What is a beta test?

A beta test is an opportunity for a limited number of users to have early access to a product that is still in development. This allows developers to get feedback from real users, to identify bugs, and to make improvements before the product is launched. For example, beta testing might uncover which platforms tend to be slower than others, issues with new menu items, and so on. Beta tests are often the final rounds of testing before releasing a product to a wide audience.

What are the goals for ThinkPlayful™ testers?

We ask testers to try out as many features as possible, play as much as possible, provide feedback along the way, and respond to follow-up surveys. We are looking for your thoughts on anything that comes to mind as you are testing. All feedback is helpful! Please help us to reach more people and share this link to sign up: www.thinkplayful.com/early-access. Thank you!

Who can be a ThinkPlayful™ tester?

Our beta tests are open to parents and close relatives of young children, and to early educators and professionals working with a caseload or classroom of children. Early childhood sites (home visiting programs, preschools, Head Start Centers and so on) are also eligible for early access. Early childhood sites are also invited to participate in a pilot program in Fall 2024 - all families and educators at the site will have free access to the app for the pilot.

What are cloud-based apps?

Cloud-based apps, also known as Software as a Service (SaaS) apps, are applications that are accessed over the internet and run on servers located in a remote data center. They allow users to access software applications through web browsers or dedicated applications on mobile devices, without having to download or install software on their local machines. Examples of popular cloud-based apps include Google Drive, Dropbox, and Microsoft Office 365.
